I am reviewing the site www.goodvibes.com- Good Vibrations an adult web site from which my husband and I have bought products.
Warning: Although this review will not be sexually explicit, the site is for adults only.
About Good Vibrations:
Unlike Adam and Eve Online Store, Good Vibrations has a page free of pictures, promoting sexual health and pleasure since 1977. This page has a brief explanation of this mission statement and states on the bottom, Please click the button below to confirm that you are at least 21.
There is very little to be offended by on this site and this is the perfect site for those new to the world of adult toys and videos. You will not see naked women or X rated scenes. The site is very tastefully done and laid out simply rather than chaotically. (I rated AdamEve.com 5 stars. It is an excellent site. It is just very different from Good Vibrations.)
The first page is very simple with a few product ideas and links to them as well as to The Antique Vibrator Museum, Educational Programs and a link to the Good Vibes Magazine. (WARNING: This page is very sexually explicit. Do not read it if this type of material offends you.)
The products sold are quite varied including videos, clothes, (Sensate-latex hot pants for $9.00, Shunga Chocolate Body Paint for $10.00, books, movies, CDs, and vibrators to name a sample. I dont find this site as easy to figure out as AdamEve.com. Although that site can be as I said stimuli overload I have always found this site to be a bit confusing. "Where is what" is the question I often ask myself. I think it is because there are sections and I have gotten lost going from one section to the next so remember where you came from when you leave in case you want to go back. You will find what you want but you may look around a bit to find it.
There is a Handy Shopping Guides which will help you navigate the site and I highly recommend using it if you are not familiar with Good Vibrations. You will find links to Holiday Gifts, Adult Videos for Him and Her, People With Disabilities, Spanish Speakers, Staff Picks and more.
One feature I really like is the product rating key which shows if something is a new product, a bestseller, a staff pick, how safe they are for various body parts, if they are waterproof, harness-compatible, or a Good Vibration Exclusive.
Buying, shipping, returns:
Check out is very easy and I have never had a problem checking out or with the pages not loading. Good Vibrations accepts MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express. They also accept checks and money orders for mail orders. Gift certificates may be used as partial or complete payment for orders placed online.
They ship UPS Ground to all street addresses in the continental U.S. I have found their shipping to be on time. At least close enough to the time frame that I have never had to e-mail Good Vibrations or call to ask where my order is.
The shipping and handling charges are clearly noted on the site. For example it cost me $7.95 for my last order which was under $50.00.
All returns must be pre-authorized. But we are told that if we are dissatisfied with any item, we may return it unused and/or unopened within 14 days of receipt for a credit, refund or exchange. (Other than items that can be copied. They will replace them.) I find that this area on the site is the easiest to follow and is laid out very well.
Products are packaged discreetly. Only you will know what is in it.
My final thoughts:
Personally, in many ways I dont find this site as user friendly as AdamEve.com but others may disagree. Good Vibrations, at first glance, doesnt seem to have a huge selection, but in fact they do. You will find yourself uncovering layers of products within other layers, which can be fun if you are just browsing. It can be frustrating if you are buying. I think the selection and prices are excellent and competitive. I like how items are explained in detail and most often there is just one item to a page making that easy. Not only are they explained in terms of color, size, etc. but you may get a mini lesson on a the variety of toys and other products they sell.
This will be a better online store than many others for a lot of shoppers. In spite of some of the graphic descriptions at the product page I don't believe they aren't meant to be offensive. Rather I see this site as attempting some education and do they a good job.
